Who Created Eerie Embers?
By day, he's Arthur “Ash” Bellamy—a mild-mannered librarian with a love for ghost stories and black coffee. But after a lightning strike zapped his candle during a power outage, he swore it whispered his name. Since then, he's been crafting spooky-scented candles in his attic workshop, where the air always smells faintly of lavender, firewood, and secrets. Thus, Eerie Embers Candle Company was born—a place where every flame tells a tale, and Ash swears some of them talk back.
Just kidding... let's meet Ross!
Hi! I'm Ross, and I'm the curator of the wicked-ly delightful scents of Eerie Embers Candle Company!
While I don't have a fun story like the one above, I'm excited for you to get to know me and my candle company. I've lived in the Michiana area my entire life, residing in the Rolling Prairie area until 2021. I moved to Buchanan, Michigan in 2021 to be closer to my day job and to a project that is near and dear to me, the Niles Scream Park. Now you can see where the spooky is coming in right?
I've spent a decade working for the Niles Scream Park, starting out as an actor, and serving in various capacities over the past 10 years, and I have been the Actor Manager / Volunteer Coordinator for the past 5 years. Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays, you'll easily know where my home is in the fall, as it's well known as the "Halloween House" in Buchanan due to the elaborate decorations in my yard.
I've always wanted to start a small business, but I never really found one that stuck. Hopping through hobbies over the years, I never really found one that I could enjoy, let alone make and sell products for people to enjoy. In the back of my mind, I had always wanted to start a candle business for years, but I managed to talk myself out of it time and time again. You don't have time, it's too difficult, you won't stick with it, no one will like your stuff, on and on.
That is, until I decided to go with my gut and start making candles and wax melts. I started small, worked my way through understanding and figuring out how all of this worked. I used my friends as "testers" to see if they liked what I was up to, and thankfully they did!
I not only wanted to have candles that everyone enjoyed, I also wanted them to have character and a story. And what better way to do that than with a spooky-themed edge? Welcome to Eerie Embers! The scents are all treats, I promise you there are no tricks. However, my intention is that you won't only enjoy the fragrances that you choose, but they will tell you a story. It doesn't have to be a scary story, but hopefully one that connects you not only with the fragrance itself, but transports you on an adventure that allows you to enjoy the scents all-around and not just by a smell!
